Ms. Peterson's Art

At university, I studied and majored in Studio Art, and focused primarily on painting, drawing and printmaking. Because of this, I feel very strongly that as a teacher, I enable my students to explore the arts while still mastering content area in other subjects. I strongly believe in an interdisciplinary education and strive to integrate the arts into my curriculum wherever it will serve my students understanding in history, language arts, math, and science.

Here is an example of my painting process. I typically begin with a photo, then prepare a sketch of what will eventually be a finished painting. This particular piece was painted in Thonon les Bains, France, where I lived and taught English for a year.
